The USAA Preferred Cash Rewards Visa Signature Credit Card is a straightforward cash-back option for military members, their spouses, and dependents. It offers unlimited 1.5% cash back on purchases without an annual fee. However, it lacks introductory APR offers or exclusive perks.

This card requires a recommended credit score of 670 and provides value with no category restrictions on cash back. According to the Points Guy, the card has a rating of three and a half stars, based on editorial opinion and not influenced by the issuer.

Pros include no annual fee and standard travel and purchase protections. The cons are its availability only to USAA members and limited redemption options for cash back.

A welcome offer of $200 is available when $1,000 is spent within the first 90 days of account opening. Although this offer is solid, more popular cards may provide better options.

Benefits include travel accident insurance, extended warranty protection, no foreign transaction fees, and cell phone protection if monthly bills are charged to the card.

Cash back earned never expires and can be redeemed as a statement credit or deposited into a USAA account.

Competing cards include Citi Double Cash® Card offering up to 2% earnings, Blue Cash Preferred® Card from American Express with excellent returns in various categories, and Chase Freedom Flex® with rotating bonus categories.

For military members seeking simple rewards without special perks or annual fees, this card presents an attractive option. However, other cards may offer more lucrative benefits.

USAA membership is required to apply for this card. Membership is open to current and former military personnel along with their families.
