The second quarter of 2024 saw business jet deliveries by the top five original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) exceed expectations, according to aviation data firm Cirium. A total of 151 jets were delivered, surpassing Jefferies Equity Research's forecast by six units. Bombardier and Embraer Executive Jets contributed significantly to this increase, delivering 37 and 26 aircraft respectively, compared to estimates of 31 and 23.

Cirium's data revealed that Textron Aviation met Jefferies' estimate with 43 jet shipments. However, Gulfstream Aerospace fell short by one delivery at 39 aircraft, while Dassault Falcon delivered only six jets against an expected eight. Notably, Gulfstream's deliveries included 11 G700 jets—three more than previously reported by Gulfstream broker Hagerty Jet and analyst Baird.

Jefferies highlighted that first-half business jet deliveries from these OEMs reached a total of 256 aircraft. This marks a year-over-year increase of 20%, driven primarily by large-cabin jet shipments which rose by 41%. The introduction of the G700 into service and the increased production of the Falcon 6X were significant contributors to this growth. Jefferies forecasts that these OEMs will deliver a total of 674 business jets in 2024, up from last year's count of 563.

Furthermore, Jefferies observed that business jet flight activity has surpassed pre-Covid levels. According to WingX data cited by Jefferies, departures in June were up by 30% compared to June 2019. The recovery is notably strong in Asia Pacific and North America, where flight activity is now at levels exceeding those seen in 2019 by 80% and 29%, respectively.
