Emirates has acknowledged the dedication of teachers in Alexandra, Johannesburg, by gifting 100 educators with special edition backpacks. These backpacks are crafted from repurposed materials from the airline's A380 and 777 aircraft. This initiative is part of Emirates' ongoing efforts to build meaningful relationships and make a positive impact in the communities it serves.

Afzal Parambil, Emirates Regional Manager for Southern Africa, emphasized the airline's commitment to education and community investment since their first flight to Johannesburg in 1995. "Education, much like travel, broadens the mind and brings immeasurable value to society at large," he stated.

The distribution took place during October, coinciding with World Teachers Day. Emirates visited Carter Primary School and Gordon Primary School in Alexandra to present the gifts. Each teacher received a premium cream leather backpack that included a luxe leather notebook, an on-the-go tea tumbler, and a gift pack of teas from Dilmah.

Principal Seemela of Carter Primary School expressed gratitude for the recognition: “It means a lot to us to have our hard work, dedication and sacrifices recognized. We are grateful to the Emirates team for hand-picking our school."

Emirates supports various educational initiatives through its Foundation. In South Africa, it backs projects like Singakwenza and Fikelela Children’s Centre. The recent unveiling of an A380 livery celebrates these philanthropic efforts.
