The Emirates airline has signed strategic Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) with Vietnam Airlines and VietJet, aiming to enhance cooperation and connectivity between the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and Vietnam. The agreements were formalized during the Vietnam - UAE Business Forum held at the Hilton Dubai Palm Jumeirah hotel on October 28.

Adnan Kazim, Emirates' Deputy President and Chief Commercial Officer, emphasized the importance of these partnerships for expanding customer connections beyond Emirates' current network. "Enhancing our cooperation with like-minded partners like Vietnam Airlines and VietJet is integral to our core commercial strategy to better connect customers across points beyond our own network," he stated. He highlighted Vietnam as a key hub in Southeast Asia that offers significant opportunities for boosting tourism and trade.

The MoU with Vietnam Airlines aims to expand existing cooperation by enhancing route connectivity beyond their current interline agreement. It also opens up discussions on potential collaborations in cargo and technical services. Nguyen Chien Thang, Executive Vice President of Vietnam Airlines, remarked on the significance of this milestone: “This MoU with Emirates is a significant milestone for Vietnam Airlines."

Meanwhile, the agreement with VietJet focuses on promoting visitor traffic between the UAE and Vietnam while strengthening commercial ties. Dinh Viet Phuong, Vietjet's Chief Executive Officer, expressed enthusiasm about partnering with Emirates: “Today’s partnership with Emirates marks the beginning of an official connection with the largest airline in the region."

Vietnam continues to attract international travelers and businesses due to its cultural heritage, landscapes, and growing economy. The UAE-Vietnam Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA), which is Vietnam's first free-trade agreement with a Middle Eastern country, further supports this trend by aiming to boost trade and investment.

Emirates currently operates daily flights to Ho Chi Minh City and Hanoi using Boeing 777 aircraft. The airline plans to add a second daily flight to Ho Chi Minh City starting January 15, 2025.

Vietnam Airlines is recognized as one of the leading airlines in the region, offering nearly 100 routes domestically and internationally. It has received numerous awards for its modern fleet and commitment to innovation.
