Immersive digital art museums have gained popularity worldwide, with more than 100 permanent locations and traveling exhibitions now available. This trend began to rise significantly after the opening of Paris' Atelier des Lumieres in April 2018. The museum, located in a repurposed steel refinery, showcases Gustav Klimt's works set to classical music, creating an experience that has attracted visitors from all walks of life.

Among these venues is Bassins des Lumieres in Bordeaux, France. Situated in a historic WWII submarine base, it offers a unique setting where artworks reflect off vast pools of water. Philippe Lopez from AFP/Getty Images describes the current exhibit "Vermeer to Van Gogh" as a captivating fusion of art and innovation.

In Indianapolis, The Lume Indianapolis presents another example of immersive digital art. Located on the fourth floor of the Indianapolis Museum of Art at Newfields, it features exhibitions by Grande Experiences from Melbourne. Their current exhibit "Dali Alive" includes Salvador Dali's iconic melting clocks.

Artechouse in Washington, DC stands out for its focus on interactivity rather than just transforming famous works into 360-degree displays. Visitors can influence artwork through motion sensors and other technology-driven elements.

Tokyo hosts two notable venues: TeamLab Borderless and TeamLab Planets. Borderless relocated to Mori Building in Azabudai Hills in early 2024 and offers an evolving interactive environment based on visitor movements. Meanwhile, Planets provides a physical engagement with art through water-filled floors and guided paths.

Superblue Miami combines curated museum experiences with large-scale interactive artworks by contemporary artists. It partners with teamLabs for installations like projected flower walls that shift upon touch.

Outernet London offers free access to its digital museum spaces featuring high-definition screens for events like video game anniversaries or collaborations with NASA.

Lastly, Ars Electronica Center in Linz, Austria embraces AI-driven displays across various disciplines such as robotics and neuroscience while also hosting immersive exhibits like "Deep Space 8K."

These museums showcase diverse approaches within this growing field but vary greatly regarding quality according to individual experiences shared by visitors around the world.
