Delta Air Lines has announced an earlier launch date for its second daily flight service between New York and Barcelona. The new start date is set for April 23, 2025, advancing from the previously scheduled May 7, 2025.

According to Cirium, an aviation analytics company, Delta's latest schedules reflect these changes for flights departing from New York John F. Kennedy International Airport (JFK) to Barcelona El Prat Airport (BCN). The second daily flight, designated as DL128, will depart JFK at 17:00 local time and arrive in Barcelona at 07:00 local time the following day. This route is expected to use a Boeing 767-300ER aircraft with a seating capacity of 216.

The first daily flight on this route, DL168, is planned to leave New York at 22:00 local time and reach Barcelona by 11:55 local time the next day. This flight will likely be operated by a Boeing 767-400ER with a total of 238 seats.

In addition to these services from New York-JFK, Delta also plans to operate daily flights from Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport (ATL) to Barcelona starting in April 2025. By June of the same year, Boston Logan International Airport (BOS) will be added to Delta's schedule for flights to Barcelona. During June through October 2025, Delta intends to offer a total of 27 weekly flights from Atlanta, Boston, and New York to Barcelona.

Other airlines serving the New York-JFK to Barcelona route include American Airlines and Iberia, both part of the oneworld alliance. These carriers have scheduled daily flights during the upcoming summer season. LEVEL, another airline associated with International Airlines Group (IAG), might also introduce its own service on this route pending regulatory approvals.

Delta's expansion is part of a broader strategy that includes increasing transatlantic routes by adding eight new ones in June 2025 compared to June 2024. This expansion includes heightened focus on Italy with plans for increased capacity and new routes such as Catania debuting in May 2025.
