A Southwest Airlines flight experienced an unexpected return to its departure airport after an engine light activated. The aircraft landed safely at Norman Y. Mineta San Jose International Airport with no injuries reported among the passengers or crew.

Flight 2395, a Boeing 737, left San Jose in the morning bound for Hollywood Burbank Airport in Southern California. The plane was airborne for about 14 minutes before it began its return journey to San Jose due to a potential engine issue. A spokesperson from the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) confirmed that they are investigating the incident: "Southwest Airlines Flight 2395 returned safely to Norman Y. Mineta San Jose International Airport in California around 8:50 a.m. local time on Tuesday, Nov. 12, after the crew reported an engine issue."

The aircraft touched down and taxied back to the terminal without assistance shortly before 9 a.m., roughly half an hour after takeoff. All passengers were rebooked onto another flight headed for Burbank later that day.

Southwest Airlines operates six daily flights between San Jose and Hollywood Burbank Airport, with additional departures throughout the day following the diverted flight. An airline spokesperson stated: "Southwest Airlines Flight 2395 returned safely to San Jose Mineta International Airport around 8:45 a.m. local time Tuesday after the Crew received an engine maintenance indication after departure." The plane has been taken out of service for maintenance evaluation.

The affected aircraft is a Boeing 737-700 registered as N915WN, delivered in March 2008 and expected to remain operational until at least 2031. Following this incident, it will not fly again until Thursday when it is scheduled to operate from Providence to Orlando.
