A recent study by Federal Express Corporation anticipates a significant increase in parcel deliveries across Türkiye during the peak season from October to December 2024. The report predicts over 476 million shipments, marking a 10.1% rise compared to the same period in 2023.

The study was conducted independently by Effigy Consulting, which analyzed data from its courier, express, and parcels (CEP) database. This database includes information on more than 300 carriers across 41 countries.

Türkiye is emerging as one of the fastest-growing markets for parcel deliveries in Europe. It ranks among the top five busiest European markets this peak season, trailing only behind the UK, Germany, and France but ahead of Spain, Italy, the Netherlands, and Belgium. E-commerce growth is a key driver of this increase, with nearly 70% of shipments directed to consumers across Europe.

Overall in Europe, approximately 6.2 billion shipments are expected between October and December 2024—a 9% increase from last year. If laid end-to-end, these parcels would stretch over a million miles. The total weight of goods transported will be nearly 7.5 million tonnes.

During this period in Türkiye, about 73.4% of shipments are projected to be business-to-consumer (B2C), reflecting online shopping's rising popularity. Business-to-business (B2B) deliveries also see an uptick as retailers prepare for holiday demands.

Eser Sezek, Vice President Ground Operations for South-East Europe & France at FedEx stated: “Peak season is a critical time for the logistics sector and the countless businesses that we support in Türkiye... By leveraging our air and road network, we support our customers in navigating the busiest time of the year.”

Sezek further emphasized Türkiye's strategic importance: “As a strategic crossroads for global trade... FedEx is here to support business in Turkiye to explore new markets.”

The study highlights that Europe will import more goods than it exports during this period with almost half a billion parcels expected as exports from European businesses.
