Japan Airlines and IndiGo will launch their codeshare partnership on December 16, allowing them to utilize each other's networks. Although IndiGo does not fly directly to Japan, it will sell tickets for several Japan Airlines routes, including daily flights from Tokyo (Haneda) to Delhi and five weekly flights from Tokyo (Narita) to Bengaluru.

Japan Airlines customers will gain access to numerous routes within India due to IndiGo's extensive domestic connections from Delhi and Bengaluru. Reservations and ticket sales begin on December 4. Abhijit DasGupta of IndiGo stated, "This codeshare agreement will further strengthen business, trade and tourism related travel between India and Japan." He added that the partnership would enable passengers to explore culturally rich destinations in both countries.

Ross Leggett of Japan Airlines noted, "This partnership will enable travelers between India and Japan to book their flights on a single ticket," emphasizing India's economic growth leading to increased air travel demand.

Japan Airlines' customers arriving in India can access 18 destinations through IndiGo's network. These include major cities such as Ahmedabad, Amritsar, Mumbai, Kolkata, Coimbatore, Kochi, Goa, Hyderabad, Leh, Lucknow, Chennai, Pune, Thiruvananthapuram, Varanasi from Delhi; and additional locations like Chandigarh and Trichy from Bengaluru.

IndiGo has been expanding its codeshare agreements with other airlines over recent years. Its deal with Turkish Airlines covers popular European and U.S. destinations. British Airways has also partnered with IndiGo for 18 Indian destinations. Furthermore, Qantas recently expanded its agreement with IndiGo through Singapore for services to Delhi and Mumbai. Earlier this year, IndiGo signed an MoU for a codeshare partnership with Malaysia Airlines.
