Allegiant Air, founded in 1997, is a low-cost leisure carrier that has expanded its network to over 120 destinations. Although it primarily operates within the United States, it holds approval for charter flights to Canada and Mexico.

In January 2022, Allegiant placed an order for up to 100 Boeing 737 MAX aircraft. This marked a shift from being an all-Airbus operator and made Allegiant the first in North America to operate the high-density version of the MAX 8. Maurice Gallagher, Allegiant’s CEO, commented on this decision: "Our approach to the fleet has always been opportunistic, and this exciting transaction with Boeing is no exception."

By October 2023, Allegiant modified its order by adding options for 30 more planes and changing orders for six MAX 7s to MAX 8-200s. The airline received its first MAX delivery in September with aircraft N811NV entering service on October 20 from Orlando Sanford International Airport (SFB) to Greenville-Spartanburg International Airport (GSP).

Allegiant's fleet includes Airbus A319-100s and A320-200s along with one Boeing 737 MAX 8-200. Previously, the airline operated several other aircraft types including Douglas DC-9s and McDonnell Douglas MD models.

Owned by Allegiant Travel Company, which also owns Sunseeker Resorts, Allegiant Air offers air transportation as well as hotel and car rental bookings. The company's mission statement emphasizes providing high-value travel experiences through innovation and cost management.

The Allegiant name is prominently featured at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas, home of the Raiders NFL team. The naming rights deal extends through 2050 with a value of $20-25 million annually.

Scott DeAngelo, Chief Marketing Officer of Allegiant Travel Company stated: “Allegiant prides itself on making travel accessible to those who otherwise might not be able to afford it.”
