Delta Air Lines anticipates welcoming 6.5 million travelers during the Thanksgiving holiday period, marking a 5% increase compared to last year. The airline offers several tips to ensure smooth travel experiences for its customers.

Passengers are encouraged to stay updated using the Fly Delta app, which allows for flight management and check-in 24 hours prior to departure. Packing thoughtfully is advised, with essentials like medication and travel documents kept in carry-on luggage, as lithium batteries are not permitted in checked baggage. Travelers should arrive at the airport three hours before their flight to navigate security checkpoints efficiently.

Delta's SkyMiles members can enjoy fast, free Wi-Fi on more flights across the U.S. this Thanksgiving. Signing up for SkyMiles is free and recommended before traveling.

The airline expects an average of 540,000 daily passengers between November 22 and December 3. On peak days, Delta plans for 5,000 departures operated by over 100,000 employees dedicated to safe and reliable service.

Seven major airports (ATL, DTW, DCA, JFK, LAX, LGA, SLC) offer TSA's Touchless PreCheck lanes for expedited security checks. Customers using Digital ID save an average of 1.5 minutes when checking bags.

Delta employs a team of 28 experts advising operations teams on weather-related challenges to maintain safe and reliable flights. Deicing procedures may be announced by flight crews as part of safety measures included in flight schedules.
