FedEx has announced the expansion of its international cargo flights from Xiamen, China to the United States. The company also inaugurated the Xiamen International Gateway Operations Center. FedEx is currently the only international express delivery company operating a cargo route from Xiamen.

The new route operates five flights per week, enhancing FedEx's logistics network in Fujian Province and providing efficient logistics services for Chinese customers. The flights depart from Xiamen Gaoqi International Airport, pass through Incheon, South Korea, and connect Anchorage, Alaska with Memphis, Tennessee. This development adds Memphis as a new international destination for Xiamen Gaoqi Airport.

The route began operations in June this year using B777 freighters and increased from one flight per week to five, operating from Tuesday to Saturday. This service can reduce transportation time for packages and heavy freight exported from Fujian to North America by 1-2 days.

FedEx has deepened its collaboration with Yuanxiang Cargo Terminal under Xiangye Group by officially launching the operations center at Xiamen Gaoqi International Airport. Covering over 3,800 square meters, it primarily serves customers in Xiamen and Fujian while supporting export needs from Changsha in Hunan and Shantou in Guangdong. The center features an automated sorting line that integrates cross-border e-commerce goods sorting.

FedEx is also the first logistics company to enter Yuanxiang International Express Customs Supervision Center under Xiangye Group. The center offers integrated systems for security checks, inspections, sorting, and collection of express shipments. Export goods from FedEx customers can clear customs directly within the center before being sorted at the operations center.

"China plays an important role in FedEx's global strategic layout," said Zhu Taihao, Vice President of FedEx China Region. "From parcel transport to heavy cargo delivery, we are committed to providing reliable global transportation services and digital intelligent solutions for Chinese customers."

Xiamen has been a key strategic city for FedEx in China. Last March, FedEx established a strategic partnership with the Xiamen municipal government to optimize international air freight operations and support cross-border e-commerce growth. The operation of this new route and establishment of the operations center are crucial steps towards fulfilling this partnership.

From January to October this year, Fujian Province's foreign trade import-export value exceeded 1.6 trillion yuan RMB—a 1.7% increase compared to last year—with Xiamen leading among cities with an import-export value of 7719.3 billion yuan RMB.

This year marks FedEx's 40th anniversary of operating in China since entering the market in 1984 with significant investments backed by data analytics technologies like AI aimed at strengthening infrastructure connectivity benefiting Chinese clients across six major operational centers including Beijing Shanghai Guangzhou Shenzhen Qingdao & now newly added location: 'Ximen'.
