FedEx has announced a significant investment of 30 million euros in the renovation and modernization of the Aéroports de Paris (ADP) complex. The aim is to enhance the facility's capacity to handle freight and oversized shipments at Roissy-Charles de Gaulle Airport. This site, launched in 1999, ranks as FedEx's second-largest air hub after its main international hub in Memphis, United States.

To mark the 25th anniversary of the Roissy-Charles de Gaulle hub, FedEx revealed plans for a new building worth 30 million euros dedicated to handling freight and heavy shipments over 68 kg. The project is part of a broader network optimization program by FedEx to adapt to rapidly changing market needs. A key goal is to improve service quality, especially for heavy shipments within Europe and on intercontinental routes.

The existing infrastructure will be transformed into a logistics complex for heavy cargo operations. The building will centralize the process of handling heavy goods across its 22,200 square meters area and feature advanced technologies like scanners and mobile weight measurement systems. Energy savings are also anticipated through LED lighting installations.

Julien Ducoup, Vice President (Hub Operations), FedEx France stated: "We are pleased that on the occasion of our hub's 25th anniversary at Roissy-Charles-de-Gaulle airport, we have the pleasure of announcing further improvements in our operations with a new freight building. This significantly enhances our operational capabilities amid growing demand for economic shipments and freight." He added: "Celebrating our 25th anniversary, we proudly highlight our positive contribution to regional economic development."

Since its inception in 1999, FedEx has invested over 600 million euros in this facility covering an area of 72,000 square meters at Roissy-Charles-de-Gaulle Airport. The location employs about 4,000 people out of FedEx's total workforce of 5,500 in the Paris region. The installed sorter can handle up to 68,000 packages and documents per hour.

FedEx offers daily flights from Poland to CDG from airports in Warsaw, Katowice, and Gdańsk enabling Polish businesses easy access to key markets across Europe, the United States, or Asia.

To address dynamic market changes including seasonal volume fluctuations, FedEx has implemented a new strategic approach for its air network model which optimizes global network usage through diverse management flows between standard shipments and freight services as well as priority versus economy services.

The CDG air hub plays an essential role within this new operational model acting as a link that aligns different types of shipments with appropriate networks ensuring greater efficiency and reliability for companies seeking flexibility across European or global markets.
