Federal Express Corporation, a leading express transportation company, has announced an expansion of its options for integrating FedEx services into shipping platforms. This initiative aims to provide small business customers with more connectivity choices as they grow.

The rise in ecommerce businesses outsourcing various operations has highlighted the importance of shipping platforms in the ecommerce industry. These platforms offer services across the supply chain, including logistics automation. The European market for supply chain software is anticipated to grow at an annual rate of 3.34% from 2024 to 2029, reaching a market size of $5.34 billion by 2029.

In response to this growth, FedEx has developed a program that allows shipping platforms to integrate FedEx services through APIs (Application Programming Interface). This new program complements the existing FedEx Compatible Solution Program, which supports larger platforms and has doubled in size over the past five years.

Stijn Meeus, Managing Director Marketing at FedEx Europe, stated: "A small ecommerce business just starting out is usually able to fulfill orders on their own through FedEx Ship Manager, our standard shipping application on fedex.com. However, once order volumes begin to grow or customers start to expand to other markets, they may look to shipping platforms, and we’re delighted to be able to facilitate the smaller shipping platforms now as well."

Meeus added: "This new programme means that more platforms can integrate our services with less overhead. The first Integrators are already live, actively onboarding customers. For the small businesses, it means they can ship via more third-party solutions."

The program is free for shipping platforms and largely self-service, ensuring a fast onboarding process while maintaining compliance with FedEx's technology standards.
