In August, Starbucks appointed Brian Niccol as its new Chief Executive Officer. Niccol officially took over the role on September 9. His compensation package includes a base salary of $1.6 million, an annual cash bonus ranging from $3.6 million to $7.2 million, and potential equity awards up to $23 million.

Niccol's position allows for a hybrid work arrangement, aligning with Starbucks' policy of being in the office at least three days per week. Despite his office being in Seattle, Washington, Niccol is permitted to reside in Newport Beach, California. This setup likely requires him to commute weekly between California and Washington.

To facilitate this commute, Niccol may use one of Starbucks' corporate jets, specifically a Gulfstream G550 registered as N721V. JetSpy reports that since assuming his role, the aircraft has completed 42 flights totaling over 300 hours from September through mid-December.

The closest airport to Niccol's residence is John Wayne Airport (SNA) in Orange County, California. The aircraft has reportedly flown between John Wayne Airport and Boeing Field King County International Airport (BFI) near Starbucks headquarters approximately 17 times since Niccol became CEO.

In 2024, the most frequented airports by this jet include Boeing Field King County International Airport in Seattle and John Wayne Airport in Orange County. London Luton Airport in the United Kingdom also ranks among its top destinations.

The Gulfstream G550 used by Starbucks was built in 2013 and is registered under Starbucks Capital Asset Leasing. Known for executive transport, the G550 was developed by Gulfstream Aerospace as an upgrade from the Gulfstream V and first flew in August 2001 before entering service in 2004. It was succeeded by the Gulfstream G600 after production ceased in 2021.

Powered by two Rolls-Royce BR710 turbofan engines delivering over 15,000 pounds of thrust each, the G550 boasts impressive specifications: a length of 96 feet five inches; height of 25 feet ten inches; wingspan of 93 feet six inches; maximum takeoff weight of 91,000 pounds; typical cruise speed of 476 knots (548 miles per hour); range of 6,750 nautical miles (7,770 miles); and a service ceiling of 51,000 feet.
