JetBlue Airways is set to expand its transatlantic offerings next summer with the introduction of two new routes from Boston Logan International Airport. The airline announced it will begin its first-ever nonstop service to Spain, offering daily flights to Adolfo Suárez Madrid-Barajas Airport. Additionally, JetBlue will introduce a daily nonstop flight to Edinburgh Airport, enhancing its seasonal Scotland service that started in New York in 2024.

This expansion comes after JetBlue reduced some of its European operations at London Gatwick and scaled back services in Paris and Amsterdam during off-peak months. Despite these cutbacks, the airline is now taking significant steps forward with plans for seven daily nonstop flights between Boston and Europe.

"Europe continues to be part of our network strategy, as our loyal customers look for JetBlue's signature service and low fares to bring them to top leisure destinations, including across the Atlantic," said Daniel Shurz, JetBlue's head of revenue, network and enterprise planning.

The new routes will be seasonal, commencing on May 22 and running through October 24. The Boston-Madrid flight will depart at 10:25 p.m., arriving at 11:30 a.m. the following day. The return flight from Madrid departs at 1:30 p.m., landing in Boston at 3:20 p.m. Meanwhile, the Boston-Edinburgh service departs at 10:30 p.m., arriving at 10:10 a.m. the next day, with the return journey departing Edinburgh at 12:10 p.m. and arriving in Boston at 2:22 p.m.

JetBlue President Marty St. George recently hinted at further European expansion for 2025. In addition to these new routes, JetBlue's premium Mint passengers flying transatlantic will gain access to future airport lounges in New York and Boston.

The airline's decision introduces competition on the Boston-Edinburgh route currently dominated by Delta Air Lines. This move reflects JetBlue's broader strategy to offer diverse destinations across Europe while maintaining competitive pricing.
