Alaska Airlines has announced its latest Global Getaway promotion, offering significant discounts on flights to several winter destinations. This offer includes half-off points and miles for travel to six new locations, primarily targeting ski and hiking enthusiasts. The discounted flights are available through Alaska's international partners, as the airline directly serves only one of these destinations.

The current selection of destinations features places across North America and Eurasia known for their ski slopes and mountain hikes. For bookings made before the end of 2024, travelers can save up to 50% on award redemptions for trips scheduled between January 1st and April 30th, 2025. Notably, flights to Geneva (GVA) and Zurich (ZRH) in Switzerland, as well as Vienna (VIE), Austria, are included in this European lineup.

Flights to Vienna and Geneva now start at 20,000 Mileage Plan miles instead of the previous 30,000 miles. Similarly, trips to Zurich have been reduced from 22,500 miles to just 20,000 miles.

Additionally, the promotion extends further afield with flights to Yerevan in Armenia starting at 30,000 miles—down from the usual rate of 42,500. Almaty in Kazakhstan is also featured at a similar discount.

Closer destinations include Kelowna in British Columbia where flights are now priced at 10,000 miles instead of the standard rate of 12,500 miles.

To benefit from these mileage discounts through Alaska Airlines' Global Getaways program, travelers must be members of the airline's frequent flyer program but can browse options without logging in. Flights from Seattle-Tacoma to Kelowna’s Elison Field (YLW) start at just 5,000 miles plus $6 each way during the promotional period.

For travel routes requiring connections—such as those heading towards Switzerland—the airline collaborates with several partners including American Airlines and British Airways among others. Sample itineraries for February show options via Helsinki with Finnair or London Heathrow with British Airways.

Routes reaching Vienna International Airport (VIE) may involve stops in London or Doha depending on partner availability. Flights included in this deal also cover Almaty Airport (ALA) in Kazakhstan exclusively operated by Qatar Airways next spring according to Cirium data. Similar arrangements apply for Yerevan (EVN) in Armenia served daily by Qatar Airways using Airbus A320 family aircraft.
