Milwaukee Mitchell International Airport is enhancing its winter travel options by expanding routes to warmer destinations. This initiative aims to provide more choices for passengers seeking sun-soaked escapes during the colder months.

Mitchell International Airport announced that it is offering increased flights to Miami, a popular destination for travelers looking to avoid the cold. "Giving Milwaukee travelers even more reason to fly this holiday season," the airport plans to manage over 250,000 passengers by year's end.

Currently, American Airlines offers weekly flights from Milwaukee to Miami using Embraer E175 jets operated by Republic Airways under the American Eagle brand. Starting December 20th, this service will become a daily operation with Envoy Air taking over as the operator.

Sun Country Airlines also plays a significant role in Milwaukee's winter travel scene. The airline is operating 110 flights this December on routes leading south, providing 20,460 seats and covering 24,505,872 seat miles. Destinations include Florida and Arizona domestically, as well as international locations like Punta Cana and Cancun.

"Sun Country is proud of our growth in Wisconsin culminating in an exciting expansion of international service from Milwaukee this winter," said Grant Whitney, Senior Vice President and Chief Revenue Officer at Sun Country Airlines. In January 2025, Sun Country will introduce a new route to Montego Bay, Jamaica.

Alaska Airlines maintains a limited presence in Milwaukee with flights from Seattle Tacoma International Airport. However, starting next month through Apple Vacations/FunJet Vacations charters, Alaska will offer weekly services to Puerto Vallarta using Boeing 737-900ER jets between January 25th and February 8th.
