Airlines plan widespread rollout of free WiFi by 2025

Airlines worldwide are gearing up to offer free WiFi services to their passengers in 2025. Air Canada recently announced that from May 2025, it will provide complimentary internet access to Aeroplan members on its short-haul fleet. This move aligns with a growing trend among airlines to enhance customer experience through connectivity.

Air France plans to revolutionize its WiFi service starting in 2025 for Flying Blue customers, utilizing Starlink's technology. United Airlines is also entering the free WiFi market, with testing scheduled for early 2025 and deployment on passenger flights later in the year.

airBaltic has been working on integrating Starlink antennas into its Airbus A220-300 aircraft, aiming to provide free internet across its fleet soon. The airline announced progress towards certification and installation in September.

Delta Air Lines is expanding its free WiFi offering beyond domestic flights, introducing the service on long-haul routes equipped with Viasat technology. Coverage is expected across North America, Europe, and Brazil but not over the Pacific Ocean.

Qatar Airways has been incorporating Starlink services since May and recently increased its equipped fleet beyond initial targets. The airline's new route from Doha to Toronto operates with a Starlink-equipped Boeing 777-300ER.

Other carriers like Air New Zealand, Hawaiian Airlines, and WestJet have initiated or continued implementing fleet-wide free WiFi solutions. JetBlue celebrated a decade of offering Fly-Fi in December 2023, maintaining its position as a pioneer in providing complimentary inflight internet.
