Alaska Airlines has announced several new routes, including a service between Honolulu and Ontario, California. The airline will also introduce flights from Anchorage to Sacramento and Detroit, as well as from Portland to Fairbanks.

Hawaiian Airlines currently operates the Honolulu to Ontario route with daily Airbus A321neo flights. However, starting June 12, Alaska Airlines will operate flight HA7271 under Hawaiian Airlines' designator code. "The Alaska Airlines operated flight is scheduled to depart at 13:20 local time (UTC -10)," according to the announcement.

Data indicates that since Hawaiian Airlines resumed the Honolulu-Ontario route in March 2021, it has been the sole operator. Previously, American Trans Air served this itinerary until December 2007.

Of the new routes introduced by Alaska Airlines, only the Anchorage to Detroit service will face competition in 2025 from Delta Air Lines. Delta plans daily flights on this route during summer months. Flights from Anchorage to Sacramento and Portland to Fairbanks are expected to have no competition.

Portland's role within Alaska Airlines' network is growing. By June 2025, weekly flights and seats from/to Portland International Airport are projected to increase significantly year-on-year. This development is part of Alaska Air Group’s strategy outlined in their 'Alaska Accelerate' plan presented last December.
