FedEx has announced the expansion of its Life Sciences Center in Gimpo, Gyeonggi Province, South Korea. This strategic move aims to enhance FedEx's logistics network in the Asia-Pacific region by working alongside its centers in Singapore and Japan to meet the growing transportation needs of the healthcare industry.

The upgraded facility now covers 2,288 square meters, nearly tripling its original size. It features five temperature-controlled zones ranging from -150°C to +25°C with round-the-clock monitoring to comply with pharmaceutical cold chain requirements. The center is certified under the "Korea Good Supply Practice (KGSP)" and is equipped for both domestic and international shipping needs.

FedEx continues to strengthen its expertise in life sciences logistics, ensuring seamless and reliable transport of critical healthcare shipments such as investigational medicinal products (IMP), biosamples, and biopharmaceuticals. This support extends to pharmaceutical and clinical trial clients prioritizing patient care services.

The Asia-Pacific pharmaceutical market is projected to reach $290 billion by 2028. The region conducts about 50% of global clinical trials, highlighting its importance in drug development worldwide. Healthcare clients require precise temperature control services for product efficacy. FedEx leverages decades of experience through a global transportation network, customized special service delivery options (SpS), and a network of life sciences centers worldwide. These centers are located in South Korea, Singapore, Tokyo, Mumbai, Memphis, and Veldhoven. Additionally, FedEx operates over 130 cold chain facilities globally to ensure consistent temperature control across logistics networks.

Kawal Preet, President of FedEx Asia Pacific Division stated: “Driven by demographic shifts, infrastructure investments, and rapid technological advancements, the healthcare industry in Asia Pacific is evolving at an unprecedented pace. With decades of healthcare transportation expertise combined with our extensive global network and differentiated solutions offering we are actively enabling this growth."

FedEx Clinical Care focuses on providing end-to-end transportation services for time- and temperature-sensitive healthcare shipments using controlled packaging solutions along with priority handling clearance supported by sensor-based real-time tracking intervention technology ensuring deliveries within 24-48 hours safely reaching their destinations.

In August this year FedEx introduced FedEx Surround—a monitoring intervention intelligent solution designed specifically enhancing controllability visibility over important shipments including those related medical purposes.
