The Arizona Cardinals have provided their Boeing 777 fleet to aid the Los Angeles Rams in evacuating from Los Angeles due to threatening wildfires. The Cardinals dispatched two Boeing 777-200ER airliners from Gridiron Air on January 10, 2025, to transport around 350 people, including Rams players, coaches, staff, and their families, to Arizona. Rams coach Sean McVay expressed gratitude for the support during this challenging time.
Adam Schefter, a senior NFL insider, reported that the Cardinals are also offering their training facility for the evacuated Rams ahead of their game against the Vikings at State Farm Stadium.
The wildfires have caused significant destruction in the Pacific Palisades area of Los Angeles, resulting in fatalities and property damage. Despite these challenges, Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) has experienced minimal flight disruptions. According to Cirium's data as of January 9, 2025, only a small percentage of flights by American Airlines and Frontier Airlines were canceled.
