Global Airlines has announced the completion of engine testing for its Airbus A380 aircraft, registered as 9H-GLOBL, which is currently undergoing maintenance in Dresden, Germany. The maintenance is being conducted at Elbe Flugzeugwerke’s (EFW) facilities.

James Asquith, CEO of Global Airlines, expressed enthusiasm about the progress made on the aircraft. "Our first aircraft came to EFW in October for heavy maintenance and the team has done an amazing job in Dresden to take 9H-GLOBL another step closer to passenger operations," he stated.

The airline transported the A380 to Dresden Airport in October 2024 for extensive maintenance work ahead of its planned service launch in 2025. This follows a partnership agreement between Global Airlines and EFW announced in September 2024. Under this agreement, EFW will provide all scheduled maintenance services including inspections and component replacements.

Jordi Boto, CEO of EFW, highlighted that maintaining A380s marks a return to this type of work for the company. He noted that more orders for A380 maintenance have been received from various customers, expanding their activities from 2025 onwards.

Asquith mentioned that collaborating with EFW was crucial for Global Airlines' goal of launching its first A380 flights. The airline has faced significant challenges over the past year but continues to advance its operations and partnerships.

Global Airlines also revealed plans to match any airline or alliance loyalty program status for two years starting January. The aircraft involved is a former China Southern Airlines airframe with serial number MSN 120.
