Lance Moll President FedEx Freight | FedEx Freight

FedEx Corporation has announced the retirement of Lance Moll, president of FedEx Freight, after a 33-year career with the company. Moll will remain in his current role until January 31 and then transition to an executive advisor position until July 31 to facilitate a smooth transition.

Moll's journey with FedEx began in 1992 as a dock worker. Over the years, he held various leadership roles within field operations. In 2018, he became senior vice president of Operations, where he led North American operations and linehaul network teams through the pandemic while prioritizing employee safety and customer service. In 2021, Moll was promoted to his current position, during which time the Freight team achieved record safety results and profitability.

John Smith, chief operating officer of U.S. & Canada surface operations, stated: “Lance has been a key member of the FedEx Freight leadership team during his more than three-decade tenure. He is a clear expert on the industry and a true champion of the things that have brought FedEx Freight so much success in recent years: safety above all, communication drives progress, and innovation is key to differentiation. I am deeply grateful for his service and leadership and wish him the best in his well-deserved retirement.”

Following Moll’s departure, Smith will oversee FedEx Freight until a new CEO is appointed. Smith will also work closely with the Separation Management Office managing the separation of FedEx and FedEx Freight into two public companies. This separation is expected to be completed within 18 months.

FedEx Corp., with annual revenue of $87 billion, provides transportation, e-commerce, and business services globally. The company aims for carbon-neutral operations by 2040.
