Southwest Airlines has announced an expansion of its flight offerings, extending its booking calendar through October 1, 2025. The airline is set to introduce new and returning domestic routes starting August 5, with a focus on Orlando International Airport (MCO). This development includes the addition of a new route from Orlando to Los Angeles International Airport (LAX), entering a market currently dominated by American Airlines, Delta Air Lines, and United Airlines.

The Orlando-Los Angeles route will feature one daily flight until October 1. Southwest's schedule indicates varying departure times throughout the week. Other routes departing from Orlando include Miami International Airport and Sarasota, each with two daily flights.

In addition to these new services, Southwest will launch a route between Nashville Airport (BNA) and Louisville (SDF) six times weekly. A seasonal service between Phoenix (PHX) and Santa Barbara (SBA) will also begin on August 10, operating once weekly on Sundays.

Several previously discontinued routes are being restored as well. These include Austin to San Francisco, Indianapolis to Chicago, and Orlando to West Palm Beach.

Southwest plans further updates to its booking calendar every two months. On February 6, 2025, the next release will cover travel through November 1, 2025.

Ryan Green, Executive Vice President and Chief Transformation Officer of Southwest Airlines, mentioned that the airline is progressing with assigned and premium seating options. These offerings are expected to be available for sale in late 2025 and operational by early 2026.
