Alaska Airlines Embraer E175 aircraft | Simple Flying

Alaska Airlines has launched a new international route connecting Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) with Monterrey International Airport (MTY) in Mexico. The service, which began on February 13, utilizes the Embraer E175 aircraft and is part of a broader expansion strategy that includes flights to La Paz, Mexico.

The airline's schedule for flight AS3451 sees departures from Los Angeles at 10:37 and arrivals in Monterrey at 15:41. The return journey departs Monterrey at 16:41 and arrives back in Los Angeles at 18:17. Ricardo Dueñas, CEO of Grupo Aeroportuario del Centro Norte, highlighted the benefits of this route for both leisure and business travelers.

Kirsten Amrine, vice president of revenue management and network planning at Alaska Airlines, stated last year, “We recently celebrated 35 years of service to Mexico and are proud to connect travelers with the rich culture and natural beauty of the country.”

The Embraer E175 aircraft used for this route features three cabins: first class with 12 seats, premium economy with 16 seats, and economy class with 48 seats. This aircraft is operated by SkyWest.

On this route, Alaska Airlines faces competition from Volaris and Viva Aerobus. According to Cirium data, Viva Aerobus has scheduled 20 flights between these cities this month using Airbus A321s and A320s. Volaris has planned 16 flights using A320s.

In contrast, Alaska Airlines remains the sole provider of non-stop services on its Los Angeles-La Paz route that commenced in November last year. The airline noted that these routes offer passengers convenient access to its extensive network from LAX.

Monterrey is known for attractions such as Michelin-starred restaurants and Huasteca Canyon. Meanwhile, La Paz offers scenic beaches and diving spots.

This new service marks one of Alaska’s longest routes using the E175 aircraft – specifically the eighth longest within their network. The airline operates this type across numerous airports primarily within the United States.
