Lufthansa Airlines has announced the introduction of a new baggage collection and check-in service for passengers departing from Frankfurt. This initiative is in collaboration with technology provider AirPortr. The service allows travelers to have their luggage picked up from home or a hotel, securely transported to the airport, and checked in on their behalf.

Travelers will receive real-time updates through a personalized tracking link and a digital baggage tag receipt. This process enables passengers to travel to the airport without heavy check-in luggage and proceed directly to security checks, retrieving their bags only upon reaching their destination.

The service aims to save time and offer convenience, particularly for those using public transport. Customers can book this option on lufthansa.com up to 36 hours before departure. It is currently available for customers in areas including Frankfurt, Mannheim, Heidelberg, Hanau, Aschaffenburg, Wiesbaden, Mainz, Darmstadt, and Bensheim. Prices start at 25 euros but vary based on location and pick-up time.

Heiko Reitz, Chief Customer Officer Lufthansa Airlines stated: "We aim to continuously improve the overall travel experience of our guests and further expand our premium services – both during the flight and on the ground." He added that this new service provides an exclusive offering unique within Germany: "We are making the journey easier from the very first minute."

Further expansion of this service is planned for the future.
