FedEx has announced the launch of a new collaborative shipping tool aimed at improving import processes and enhancing logistics efficiency. This tool is designed to facilitate seamless coordination between importers and shippers during the creation of Air Waybills (AWB), simplifying customer import processes and boosting international logistics efficiency.

According to forecasts, global trade transactions are expected to increase by 3% in 2025, with Asian imports projected to rise by 5.1%. However, research from the International Trade Centre highlights that major challenges faced by importers worldwide include missed pickups and lack of cargo visibility. These inefficiencies can impact business operations, underscoring the need for digital solutions like the collaborative shipping tool.

The tool allows importers to share the AWB creation process with shippers, who can then review shipment details and schedule pickups based on preparation status. This feature aims to improve pickup success rates and streamline import processes.

Saril Chari, Senior Vice President of Marketing & Customer Experience for FedEx Asia Pacific Region, stated: "As global supply chains become increasingly complex, businesses need smarter logistics solutions to remain competitive. FedEx continues to support customers in anticipating challenges and adapting to changing markets through digital enablement. The collaborative shipping tool facilitates seamless coordination between importers and shippers, enabling companies to optimize their supply chains efficiently. By simplifying the import process, we are not only improving transportation operations but also shaping the future of logistics."

Key benefits of the collaborative shipping tool include:

- Enhanced coordination and flexibility: Importers can share AWB creation with shippers who can verify shipment details and specify pickup dates according to convenience. This improves data accuracy, increases overall pickup success rates, and minimizes shipment delays.

- Improved visibility: Importers gain real-time insights into the pickup process ensuring greater transparency and control over cargo.

- Enhanced user experience: The tool is designed simply and intuitively making it easier for both importers and shippers.

The collaborative shipping tool is available for customers importing through FedEx across regions including Asia Pacific, Europe, United States, Canada, Middle East, Indian Subcontinent, Africa among others. It enables seamless coordination with shippers globally. This additional feature complements existing digital solutions such as FedEx Import Tools providing all necessary options for managing imported cargo effectively.
