In the past week, several airlines have launched or resumed routes, adding new options for travelers.

Avelo Airlines has begun scheduled flights to Punta Cana in the Dominican Republic. As of February 21, Avelo operates twice-weekly 737-800 flights from Hartford, marking the first service on this route since USA3000 ceased operations in 2007. The following day saw the commencement of a twice-weekly 737-700 service from Raleigh/Durham to Punta Cana. This route was last served by Frontier in 2019.

On February 21, Solomon Airlines entered the Trans-Tasman market between Auckland and Brisbane as a fifth-freedom operator. The carrier now offers weekly flights using A320ceos. Flights depart Auckland early Friday morning and arrive in Brisbane an hour later local time. The aircraft then continues its journey before returning to Auckland late at night.

Aeromexico has added its third Colombian route with daily flights between Mexico City and Cartagena starting February

20. This addition comes just ahead of the Cartagena Carnaval celebrations.

Previously, Cartagena was Mexico City's largest unserved South American market.

Aegean Airlines inaugurated flights from Athens to Erbil in Iraq's Kurdistan

region on February

23.The twice-weekly A320 service marks Aegean's entry into one of six Middle

Eastern countries it will serve this year.

Air Albania has introduced twice-weekly flights between Tirana and Vienna

using A320 aircraft despite competition from three existing carriers offering

non-stop services on this short-haul route.

Breeze Airways resumed its Raleigh/Durham-Louisville route on February

21 with a twice-weekly schedule aboard E190 aircraft.Breeze last operated this

route between May and September

Finally airBaltic launched its first-ever flight between Tallinn and Barcelona

on February

19 operating twice weekly using A220-300 aircraft.Ryanair also serves this

route with similar frequency creating competitive dynamics during peak summer

months

These new airline routes reflect ongoing adjustments within global aviation as

carriers explore emerging markets while reconnecting previously underserved

destinations
