Emirates' president, Sir Tim Clark, has once again expressed his airline’s desire for Airbus to restart production of the A380. This development seems highly unlikely considering the fate of the final assembly line of the aircraft type.

Clark's renewed interest in the superjumbo comes despite industry trends favoring smaller, more fuel-efficient aircraft. He believes that with certain modifications, there would be a market for the A380 once again.

"There's no question in my mind that if it was reimagined with all the things we've been asking for, it would be a good airplane," Clark said.

Emirates is currently the largest operator of the A380, and its commitment to the aircraft has been unwavering. The airline recently announced plans to retrofit its existing fleet with new cabins, underscoring its continued faith in the superjumbo's appeal.

However, Airbus ended production of the A380 in 2021 due to dwindling orders and a shift towards more sustainable aviation solutions. The infrastructure required to restart production presents significant challenges.

"I doubt very much whether they will do that because you need a supply chain, you need production lines," Clark acknowledged.

Despite these hurdles, Clark remains optimistic about potential future demand for larger aircraft as global air travel continues to grow.
