Uganda Airlines has confirmed the initiation of its London flights, choosing to operate from Entebbe to London Gatwick due to greater slot availability and lower fees compared to London Heathrow. This marks the first time Uganda will have UK passenger flights since British Airways' exit in 2015.

The inaugural flight is set for May 18, with the service operating four times weekly using the Airbus A330-800. Uganda Airlines possesses two of these aircraft, each configured with 258 seats across three classes.

"Booking data shows that 78,000 roundtrip passengers flew between London and Entebbe in the 12 months to July 2024," said the press release. RwandAir carried the most passengers via Kigali, followed by Qatar Airways via Doha and Kenya Airways via Nairobi.
