How to plan the ultimate private jet vacation

You've just sold your huge business, and you have wads of cash sitting in your bank account. You've decided that you want to splurge on a bucket list item and put that hard-earned money to good use, but what can you spend it on? Your wealthy in-laws recently took a private jet touring around India, so how about chartering a plane to some far-away destination?

First, you need to decide on a destination. How about the Azores? A flight to Ponta Delgado on an Azores Airlines Airbus A321neo only features a four-abreast business cabin with recliners and no screens - not very glamorous. Then, there are the long security lines at JFK and the painful process of trying to bring your dog along. The jet will be easier and more luxurious. What's next?

VistaJet doesn't publish its exact hourly costs but prices start at $11,000 per hour and can rise up to as high as $20,000 per hour. VistaJet membership programs typically cost less per hour and come with a host of other benefits but you're not planning to do this again anytime soon so that won't be necessary.

You will also need to select which airport to fly out of. You're a New York native but driving your large vehicle to JFK or LaGuardia is a punishing experience on the city's crowded highways while Newark is even further away.
