United Airlines, based in the United States, is expanding its international operations from San Francisco International Airport. The airline will add capacity and initiate service on several new long-haul routes during the summer season. According to data from Cirium's Diio Mi, United Airlines will introduce at least four new routes in July, two of which are direct flights to Panama City and San Jose, while the others are one-stop itineraries to Kaohsiung via Tokyo, and to Montreal via Chicago.

"United Airlines also serves Montreal directly, offering flight UA2070 to its customers. In July, the four routes, as well as the direct connection to Montreal, will be flown daily, according to Cirium’s Diio Mi."

Despite these additions, some flights from San Francisco to destinations such as Sydney and Beijing will experience reductions in seat availability due to a change in aircraft type. The Boeing 777-300ER used in 2024 will be replaced with 777-200ERs, which offer fewer seats. Meanwhile, adjustments are also seen in services to Frankfurt, London, and Seoul, affecting flight frequencies and equipment used.

The airline plans to further develop its network from San Francisco, as indicated by announcements for new routes and increased frequencies expected after the summer. This includes flights to Adelaide, and new fifth-freedom flights to Bangkok and Ho Chi Minh City via Hong Kong. Some of these new services are set to start later this year, pending necessary approvals.

"Flights to Bangkok and Ho Chi Minh City should begin on October 26, while the new flight to Adelaide will begin on December 11. The second daily departure from San Francisco to Manila is scheduled to start on October 25."

United Airlines continues to expand its international presence from its San Francisco hub, providing significant capacity compared to competitors this summer.
