Collins Aerospace, a company under RTX, has introduced new products designed to enhance the passenger experience at the Aircraft Interiors Expo (AIX). The focus is on the Pinnacle main cabin seats and the Prime wheelchair solution.

The Pinnacle seats will have three upgrade options aimed at maximizing service life and investment. The upgrades, named Pinnacle Aspire, Pinnacle Aspire+, and Pinnacle MQ, offer various new features including advanced in-flight entertainment screens, USB charging, and improved seating configurations. A statement from Collins Aerospace explained: “The novel approach reuses a significant portion of existing componentry to upgrade each seat, providing significant recyclability benefits, while also preserving the foundational integrity, longevity, and investment in the new product.”

Sean Lyons, Vice President of Business Development of Interiors Service and Support at Collins Aerospace, commented on their commitment to customer problems. “Our large seating install base and global aftermarket support structure provides a unique opportunity to present our customers swift, and elegant cabin modernization options.”

Hawaiian Airlines, among other airlines, has selected Pinnacle seats for its Airbus A321neo aircraft, as shared in an April 2019 statement from the carrier.

In a parallel announcement, Collins Aerospace has upgraded its Prime wheelchair solution. This innovation is designed for passengers with reduced mobility, offering a transformable monument suitable for seating or as a crew service station. The upgrades include amenities like a height-adjustable tray table, power outlets, and other traveler conveniences.

Cynthia Muklevicz, Vice President of Customer and Business Development at Collins Aerospace, emphasized the importance of customer feedback in designing the Prime concept. She stated, “The passenger experience is not only on par with the experience enjoyed by other travelers,” noting it also adheres to emergency standards and allows for a caregiver seat.

The Prime solution, initially unveiled at AIX in 2024, allows electric wheelchair users to stay in their mobility device with an aircraft-secure attachment system. Customer demonstrations of Prime are occurring at AIX in Hamburg, Germany, where the event continues until April 10.
