Avelo Airlines has made a strategic move in its flight planning for the upcoming peak summer months by deciding not to operate any flights on Tuesdays. According to its schedule submission to Cirium Diio, this decision applies to the busiest months of July and August. Historically, Tuesday flights have been far fewer compared to other days, but the complete absence of service on this day reflects a new approach by the airline to enhance operational efficiency and revenue.

Cirium Diio data reveals that in previous years, Tuesday flights constituted a small percentage of Avelo's total operations—1.1% in 2024, 4.4% in 2023, and 6.3% in 2022. Avelo has observed patterns in passenger demand and adjusted its scheduling to focus more on busier days. For instance, Mondays, Thursdays, Fridays, and Sundays now account for 82% of its flights.

While Avelo has eliminated Tuesday services in July and August, it operates very few flights on this day in May, June, and September. Specifically, only six round-trip operations are scheduled across these quieter months, making Tuesday flights a rarity. One of these is a Hartford to Montego Bay route, operational on September 2. These Tuesday services are described as so rare that they might have been excluded altogether for simplicity.

Comparatively, other U.S. carriers, such as Delta, American, and United, maintain a higher proportion of flights on Tuesdays, using this day to support their hub operations. Allegiant Air, known for fewer flights on less popular days, still plans to operate 6% of its summer flights on Tuesdays. Avelo's approach indicates a shift in strategy, marking it as a leading airline in minimizing low-demand day flights like those on Tuesday.

This realignment of services accompanies Avelo's expansion of its international route map, which now includes destinations such as Cancun, Montego Bay, Nassau, and Punta Cana.
