Chase Sapphire Preferred cardholders are finding value in a less publicized feature of their card, the 10% anniversary points bonus. The bonus provides extra points based on total spend during the account anniversary year. Cardholders earn an additional point for each dollar spent, with the point bonus applying to the entire spend of the previous year.

For instance, if one spends $100,000 within their cardmember year, they would earn an additional 10,000 points. According to April 2025 valuations, 10,000 Chase Ultimate Rewards points are valued at about $205. This effectively offsets part of the $95 annual fee and underscores the card's attractiveness.

Users should note that the bonus takes the form of extra points rather than a percentage return of points. The bonus can be viewed as an additional 0.1% reward on spending categories, influencing rewards rates such as 5.1 points per dollar on Lyft and 3.1 points per dollar on dining.

Progress towards the 10% bonus can be tracked through the Ultimate Rewards portal, with benefits accruing seamlessly. However, actual receipt of bonus points occurs 60 to 90 days following the card's anniversary date, likely synchronized with the cardholder’s annual fee.

While the additional points may not seem substantial at first glance, frequent spenders can accumulate significant bonuses, reinforcing the card's value to discerning users.
