A Delta Air Lines Boeing 757-200, operating Flight DL1329 from Jacksonville to Atlanta, was forced to return to Jacksonville on April 30 following a reported flap issue. The aircraft, carrying 176 passengers, took off from Jacksonville International Airport at 16:19 but returned around 17:00 after a brief holding pattern.

Delta stated that the aircraft's diversion was due to "the indication of a flaps issue." Upon returning, the plane landed safely and was examined by technicians. The passengers were later accommodated on a replacement flight that continued to Atlanta that evening.

A Delta Air Lines spokesperson emphasized their dedication to safety, saying, "Nothing is more important than the safety of our customers and people — that's why the flight crew followed their training and procedures to return to Jacksonville when a potential mechanical issue was observed. We apologize to our customers for the delay in their travels."

The aircraft involved, a Boeing 757-232 registered as N698DL, has been in service since August 1999. Recent records show the plane had flown without issues earlier the same day. Following a 13-hour grounding in Jacksonville for checks, the plane resumed service on May 1.

This incident is part of several recent diversions by Delta, including a March 30 diversion of another Boeing 757 after takeoff due to mechanical alerts.

With many flights diverting daily for various reasons like mechanical problems, weather conditions, or onboard emergencies, Delta regularly assesses and maintains aircraft for swift returns to service post-incident.

A similar case involved a United Airlines Boeing 777 on April 27, which diverted due to an open-door indication but resumed operations shortly after.
