Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) has announced the celebration of the inaugural TAP Air Portugal flight connecting Los Angeles to Lisbon. The announcement was made on X.

According to a report by BakersfieldNow, the launch of TAP Air Portugal’s nonstop service between Los Angeles and Lisbon marks the first direct connection between these two cities. This development enhances travel options for passengers seeking to reach Portugal from the U.S. West Coast. The inaugural flight was celebrated at LAX, underscoring the significance of this new route in strengthening transatlantic ties. Travel expert Gabe Saglie, who was on the inaugural flight, said that the nonstop service reduces the need for layovers, making travel between the regions more efficient.

As detailed in TAP Air Portugal's press release, the new Los Angeles to Lisbon route commenced on May 16, 2025, operating three times weekly on Tuesdays, Fridays, and Sundays. Beginning May 26, a fourth weekly flight on Saturdays will be added, continuing through October 25. Flights depart Lisbon at 09:55 and arrive in Los Angeles at 14:40 local time, with a return departure from Los Angeles at 16:40, arriving in Lisbon at 12:00 the following day.
