Emirates has partnered with NBA Cares to renovate the technology and gaming room at the Wheeler-Dowe Club in Indianapolis. This project is part of the NBA Cares Finals Legacy Projects, an initiative aimed at positively impacting communities across the United States. Emirates serves as this year's presenting partner.

The unveiling ceremony marked the second restoration effort by NBA Cares within a week, following a similar project in Oklahoma County. The event was attended by representatives from Emirates, the NBA, Indiana Pacers, and local community officials. Notable speakers included Mark Tatum, NBA Deputy Commissioner; Joe Hogsett, Mayor of Indianapolis; Matthew Jones from Emirates; and executives from Indiana Pacers like Steve Simon and Mel Raines.

This refurbishment is part of Emirates' broader commitment to uplifting U.S. communities and supporting youth development through sports and recreation. The newly renovated game room at Wheeler-Dowe Club now features updated technology, gaming equipment, new furniture, and accessible storage for books and games.

Established in 1972, Wheeler-Dowe Club is one of several sites under Boys & Girls Clubs of Indianapolis that offer after-school activities designed to help youth reach their full potential. The club provides programs focusing on education career development, character building, health skills, sports, and arts.

A commemorative plaque recognizing the support from NBA and Emirates was placed in the club's game room following the ribbon-cutting ceremony. Local youth participated in a basketball clinic led by Indiana Pacers coaches and players as part of the inauguration event.

Emirates began its operations in the U.S. with services to New York JFK in 2004 and now operates flights to 12 U.S. cities including Boston, Los Angeles, Houston, Chicago among others. Through its various partnerships or directly via initiatives like the Emirates Airline Foundation, it continues to make global community impacts.
