Ed Bastian, Chief Executive Officer | Delta Air Lines

In a recent feature, Allison Ausband shared her experience with the Moleni family and their connection to Delta Air Lines. The Moleni family, consisting of 31 members working for Delta, includes cousins, spouses, children, nieces, and nephews primarily based at the airline's Salt Lake City hub.

Anela Moleni Ongoongotau has been with Delta for over two decades and is now a Red Coat. Her cousin Nate Moleni has served as a ramp agent for 19 years, while Mel Spencer has worked in the same role for 11 years. These three cousins exemplify how Delta connects families and helps them stay connected globally.

Anela spoke about fulfilling her father's dream of taking a cruise. "That’s how Delta makes our dreams come true," she said. "I’m able to get a home because of Delta." She emphasized how working for the airline allows her to attend important family events like baby blessings and reunions.

The Molenis have also experienced support from Delta during difficult times. Mel recounted when both her father and Nate's father passed away within days of each other. The company provided the necessary support for family members to grieve together. "When they say it’s about the culture and taking care of your people, that’s where I saw it the most," Mel noted.

The family's pride in their heritage and their work at Delta is evident through various experiences made possible by the airline. These include trips between Tonga and the U.S., journeys to New York for family reconnections, and participation in special events like the Breast Cancer One charter flight celebrating employees who have survived breast cancer.

Their stories reflect not only familial love but also dedication to their roles at Delta. When asked what advice they would give new employees, Nate advised valuing one's job and maintaining the culture within the team: "If you see a need on the ramp or wherever you are, you fill that need."
