United Airlines has announced an expansion of its flight capacity to Dublin Airport in 2026, marking a significant increase in its transatlantic offerings. The airline plans to boost seat availability by more than 50% compared to 2024, positioning itself as the leading US carrier in terms of year-round seats to and from Dublin.

The expansion includes extending the second frequency of its Dublin-Newark service to almost year-round and making the Dublin-Chicago O’Hare service available year-round. This move follows United's summer 2025 strategy, which saw an increase in flights between Dublin and Washington Dulles International Airport and the use of Boeing 787-8 aircraft on routes from Chicago O'Hare.

Karolien De Hertogh, United Airlines' Sales Director, emphasized the importance of this expansion for travelers: "This significant expansion further underlines the importance of Dublin within United’s global network. When booking their next US getaway, our customers in Ireland will benefit from even greater travel choice in the winter season, with the possibility to seamlessly connect via our hubs in Newark, Chicago O’Hare, and Washington DC to over 140 destinations in the Americas."

Dublin Airport's Managing Director Gary McLean highlighted the demand for these services: "The move to almost year-round operations for the second daily Newark service and year-round for the daily Chicago flight is a clear signal of the strong demand from our American customers."

United Airlines uses various Boeing aircraft for its transatlantic routes from Dublin. Flights to Chicago are operated by Boeing 767-300ERs during winter and Boeing 787-8s during summer. The Newark route features a mix of Boeing 757-200s and 777-200ERs, while Washington sees only Boeing 757s.

Comparatively, United Airlines outpaces its US competitors with scheduled flights offering more seats than American Airlines or Delta Air Lines. According to Cirium data, United has planned 420 flights with 83,940 seats to Ireland. In contrast, American Airlines offers fewer flights exclusively through Dublin Airport with a total of 231 services providing 58,734 seats. Delta Air Lines schedules fall between these figures with 335 flights totaling 76,985 seats.
