The union representing dealers and cashiers at the Enjoy Coquimbo casino has successfully reached a collective agreement, compelling management to reverse its stance just before a legal strike was about to commence.

The conflict arose when Enjoy Coquimbo's management refused to engage with the union's bargaining proposal, leading to immediate mobilization by the union and a strike vote that garnered significant support.

Francisco Muñoz, president of the Enjoy Coquimbo union, emphasized the workers' solidarity: “The unity, belief and responsibility with which we approached this collective bargaining process allowed us to achieve a victory that strengthens us as a union. It reaffirms the legitimacy of our struggle in defence of our rights and shows that dialogue—which the company always refused—must always prevail over the dispute and unfair treatment.”

Negotiations started on April 28, focusing on securing wage increases and maintaining essential working conditions. These included preserving a 37-hour work week, three days off per week (including weekends), and guaranteed vacation time during holidays—all elements that the company sought to alter during negotiations.

This agreement marks the first successful collective bargaining under Enjoy Coquimbo's new administration, setting a precedent for future discussions.

UNI Global Union praised this achievement and expressed solidarity with Enjoy Coquimbo's union members. They highlighted how worker unity can effectively challenge corporate practices.
