When frequent flyers spend enough with Delta Air Lines, they gain access to the company's Sky Clubs. Delta operates over 50 of these lounges across the United States and one international location at Tokyo Haneda Airport. These lounges are a step below the new DeltaOne lounges, allowing more people to access them.

Delta has established significant hubs in New York and Los Angeles, two highly competitive markets in the U.S. To maintain its edge against competitors like American Airlines and United Airlines, Delta opened a new Sky Club at Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) in 2022 and another at John F. Kennedy International Airport (JFK) in 2023.

The LAX Sky Club is part of a $2.3 billion "Sky Way" project aimed at modernizing Delta's terminals. Located at Terminal 3, it occupies nearly 20,000 square feet and features amenities such as Wi-Fi, power ports, an indoor/outdoor bar, a large terrace, showers, and a self-service food bar known for its tacos. Despite its size and offerings, it can become crowded due to its compact layout.

In contrast, the JFK Sky Club is located in Terminal 4's A concourse near gate A8. It covers 14,000 square feet—smaller than LAX—but still offers Wi-Fi, power ports, a bar, an outdoor terrace, dining area, and self-serve buffet area. Although it has fewer amenities than LAX's lounge because it's one of two Sky Clubs at JFK's Terminal 4.

Delta also operates another Sky Club at JFK’s B concourse near gate 31. This older lounge is larger but shows signs of wear with lower ceilings and smaller windows compared to newer facilities.

Overall comparison suggests that the LAX Sky Club edges out JFK due to its larger size and wider range of amenities.

Delta continues to expand its lounge offerings with plans to refurbish its Denver International Airport lounge despite Denver not being a hub for the airline.

Accessing these clubs varies: customers flying in DeltaOne or premium cabins on partner airlines get entry; certain credit card holders also receive access; annual memberships are available for purchase as well.

Delta has faced criticism over overcrowding issues partly due to broad access policies; however introducing dedicated DeltaOne lounges aims to alleviate this problem by offering exclusive spaces for business class passengers only—currently located in New York-JFK among other locations—with more planned openings by decade-end including Salt Lake City & Atlanta which will bring total count up-to six nationwide while reducing crowding within existing sky clubs themselves thus enhancing overall passenger experience significantly across board making delta truly stand out amidst fierce competition from rivals like united airlines’ polaris flagship admirals club offerings respectively
