I'm a fan of the Chase Sapphire Preferred Card, which I've held for years. I recommend it as the best starter card for earning transferable rewards due to its welcome bonus, low annual fee, and bonus points categories.

I've redeemed thousands of Chase Ultimate Rewards points by transferring them to airline and hotel partners like Air Canada Aeroplan and World of Hyatt. The flexibility of earning Chase points through the Chase Travel℠ portal and redeeming them at a fixed rate of 1.25 cents per point has been beneficial.

With the recent refresh of the Chase Sapphire Reserve and the launch of the new Chase Sapphire Reserve for Business℠, Chase introduced Points Boost, a variable system enhancing the fixed-rate redemption option.

"The basics of Points Boost for Sapphire Preferred Card holders," notes that existing cardholders can still redeem their Ultimate Rewards points for 1.25 cents each on all Chase Travel purchases until Oct. 26, 2027, then 1 cent thereafter. New cardholders can redeem their points for a fixed value of 1 cent apiece through Chase Travel.

Chase's new Points Boost feature allows Sapphire Preferred Card holders to redeem their Ultimate Rewards points on select hotels and flights at up to 1.5 cents apiece and premium cabin flights on select airlines at up to 1.75 cents apiece.

"For existing Sapphire Preferred Card holders like me," says one user, "the new Points Boost feature is a definite improvement." They can still redeem their Ultimate Rewards points through Chase Travel at the same rate but now have an additional option with greater value by selecting a Point Boost option.

The user plans to use Points Boost primarily when they find options offering better redemption rates than before Oct. 26, 2025.

"How to find Points Boost redemptions" involves logging into Chase Travel when Points Boost goes live to see how it works. Redemptions are clearly marked with a rocket icon at the top of search results.

"I'm pleased to see Points Boost options on both high-end and budget hotel bookings," another user mentions regarding planning usage strategies.

They expect this will be useful for one-night stays at airport hotels where elite perks aren't necessary but emphasize comparing cash prices with other booking sites or direct bookings due to inflated cash rates found in some credit card travel platforms.

While initially disappointed by limited airline options showing Points Boost features—primarily United Airlines and Air Canada—the user remains hopeful more will be included over time given it's still early days since launch date implementation began rolling out across different markets globally!
