Air India is set to resume part of its international flight schedule, which was previously reduced following a tragic crash involving one of its Boeing 787 aircraft. The accident led to the death of all but one passenger on board and several individuals on the ground. In response, Air India paused its international operations to inspect its fleet of Boeing 787 Dreamliner jets.

The airline announced it would restore some routes starting next month. By August 1, 2025, Air India plans to reintroduce several flights affected by what it calls a "safety pause." This gradual resumption will continue through September, with the full schedule expected to be restored by October 1, 2025.

Air India's international network will eventually consist of 575 weekly flights across 63 routes connecting India with global destinations. However, some services planned between August and September will be removed from the schedule as part of a phased restoration process.

Significant changes include alterations to the Ahmedabad-London route that AI171 was operating when it crashed. The service will now operate three times weekly and land at London Heathrow Airport instead of Gatwick. Flights from Delhi to Zurich, Tokyo, and Seoul are also set for full restoration.

In recent years, Air India has undergone significant transformation under new ownership by Tata Group. Despite challenges posed by the crash and subsequent investigations, the airline is committed to ensuring safe operations while continuing its turnaround efforts.

As stakeholders await further details about the cause of AI171's crash, Air India remains focused on maintaining safety standards as it resumes its international services.
