Global Airlines has decided to return its only Airbus A380 to storage in Tarbes, France. This decision follows two return flights to New York. The airline informed Simple Flying that the aircraft will stay parked "until it heads off to the next stage of heavy maintenance," adding that "it won't be long until it is up in the clouds once again."

Earlier this summer, Global Airlines became the second airline to operate a second-hand Airbus A380. The flights were conducted by Hi Fly on behalf of Global Airlines. Hi Fly had previously struggled with leasing out the aircraft, and COVID-19 ultimately ended its efforts.

The Airbus A380, registered as 9H-GLOBL, was tracked extensively on FlightRadar24 during its ferry flight from Dresden, Germany, to Tarbes, France. The aircraft left Dresden at 14:13 and arrived in Tarbes at 16:03 after a flight lasting approximately one hour and fifteen minutes.

A spokesperson for Global Airlines commented on the move back to storage: "After completing the latest maintenance in Dresden, 9H-GLOBL will be heading to Tarbes to park until it is time to head off to the next stage of heavy maintenance... It’s always great to see it in the sky, and it won’t be long before it is up in the clouds once again on the way to the next adventure."

Since being registered with Global Airlines on February 2nd, 2024, 9H-GLOBL has flown for just over 62 hours across various routes. Its longest flight was from Mirabel, Montreal, to Glasgow Prestwick.

The aircraft's future remains uncertain as it returns to a facility known for long-term storage of planes. Previously stored at Hi Fly's Beja base for three months, it's unclear what level of storage awaits it now.

According to ch-aviation data, there are currently 15 other Airbus A380s stored at Tarbes Airport. Eight have already been scrapped there.

Global Airlines assures that their Airbus A380 will fly again soon but did not specify when or where this would occur.
