Qatar Airways has announced its winter schedule, which includes a significant increase in flights between London and Doha. For the first time, the airline will operate up to ten daily flights from London Heathrow, the busiest airport in the United Kingdom. When these are combined with services operated by British Airways on behalf of Qatar Airways and additional Qatar Airways flights from London Gatwick, there will be as many as 14 daily departures between London and Doha this winter season. This is an increase from the previous high of 12 daily services.

The new schedule is set to begin on Sunday, October 26, when northern hemisphere airlines switch to their winter timetables. The increased frequency will continue through Saturday, March 28, 2026. As of August 1, the planned operations include nine to ten daily Qatar Airways flights from Heathrow using a mix of Airbus A350-900s, A350-1000s, A380s, and Boeing 777-300ERs. On Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays there will be ten departures; on other days there will be nine. British Airways will operate two daily flights using Boeing 777-200ERs or Boeing 787 Dreamliners. From Gatwick, Qatar Airways will offer ten weekly flights with Boeing 787-9 aircraft.

Freight capacity is also notable in this operation. Over 210 tonnes of cargo space per day will be available from Heathrow alone during this period.

On Tuesday, December 2—a typical day under the new schedule—there will be five departures for Doha between 08:05 and 08:40 across both Heathrow and Gatwick airports. These morning departures are scheduled to connect efficiently with onward flights in Doha to Asia-Pacific destinations and parts of Africa after arrival in the Gulf region.

Last year, Qatar Airways and British Airways carried a total of 2.36 million round-trip passengers between London and Doha according to data from the UK Civil Aviation Authority. Of these passengers, about 85% traveled via Heathrow Airport. Cirium Diio data indicates that approximately 2.65 million seats were offered on this route last year, resulting in a combined seat load factor of about 89%. Booking data suggests that roughly three-quarters of these travelers connected onward through Doha to other destinations—most commonly India, Pakistan (due partly to Pakistan International Airlines not operating), Australia, Saudi Arabia, and Thailand—with Kathmandu, Colombo, Lahore, Islamabad, and Bangkok being among the top connecting cities.

Fourteen passenger airlines now operate Middle East routes out of Heathrow Airport (https://simpleflying.com/riyadh-air-boeing-787-london-heathrow/).

London Heathrow remains one of Europe’s key international hubs with major traffic flows connecting Europe with Asia-Pacific and Africa.
