When booking a flight, passengers on United Airlines’ Boeing 767-300ERs have a range of seat options across four classes: Polaris Business Class, Premium Plus, Economy Plus, and Economy. The airline operates two main configurations for this aircraft type, each with different seating arrangements and features.

The Boeing 767-300ER is a long-haul aircraft valued for its extended range capabilities. United’s two configurations include one with 167 seats—featuring more premium seating—and another with 203 seats, which increases overall capacity in the Economy section.

In the first configuration, Polaris Business Class offers lie-flat seats arranged in a 1-1-1 layout at the front of the plane. These seats come with priority boarding, dedicated check-in lanes, complimentary drinks and meals, but have fixed aisle armrests. Premium Plus is situated behind Polaris in a 2-2-2 layout above the wings and provides wider seats and additional legroom compared to standard economy options. Both Economy Plus and Economy are located toward the rear in a 2-3-2 layout; most economy seats can recline as much as those in Economy Plus except for certain back-row positions due to proximity to lavatories and galleys.

The second configuration has fewer Polaris and Economy Plus seats but significantly more Economy seats—117 compared to 56 in the first version—making it suitable for periods of high passenger volume such as holidays. In this version, Premium Plus gains an extra half-inch of seat width. All even-numbered Polaris seats feature adjustable armrests while exit rows shift locations within the cabin.

Bassinets are available on both configurations near the front rows of Premium Plus and Economy Plus sections on a first-come basis. These locations are favored by families traveling with infants.

Bulkhead seats—located at row fronts or near bassinets—are popular among travelers seeking extra legroom or proximity to exits but may lack under-seat storage or personal entertainment screens.

Preferences vary widely among passengers depending on their needs. Window seats are often chosen by those interested in views during flight operations or scenery below. According to an interview with Reader's Digest featuring a Boeing engineer: “I always choose one of those [middle and aisle seats of the last five rows], and yes, I do pay attention during the safety briefing and look for the nearest exits.” He noted these positions tend to be safer based on accident statistics.

For travelers prioritizing comfort or amenities, selecting among United’s different classes depends on individual requirements such as seat width, recline capability, access to bassinets for infants, or proximity to exits for quicker boarding or deplaning.
