Qatar Airways is adjusting its Airbus A380 operations for the 2025/26 Northern Hemisphere winter season. The airline will decrease the number of A380 flights on its Doha Hamad International Airport (DOH) to London Heathrow Airport (LHR) route, while increasing the superjumbo’s presence on flights to Bangkok Suvarnabhumi (BKK).

Starting October 26, 2025, Qatar Airways plans to reduce its A380 service between Doha and London from two daily flights to one. At the same time, service to Bangkok will rise from one daily flight with the A380 to three.

“The A380, the biggest passenger jet on earth, boasts a tri-class seating configuration in First, Business and Economy Class across two decks, with a sophisticated on-board lounge. From a warm welcome to state-of-the-art entertainment and delicious gourmet dining, our secret to unforgettable journeys is simple: it’s all in the detail,” stated Qatar Airways.

Despite fewer A380 flights between Doha and London this winter, overall capacity is set to increase. Data from aviation analytics firm Cirium shows that Qatar Airways has scheduled 288 round trips on this route in November 2025—an average of almost ten per day—which represents a 17.4% increase compared to November 2024. Total seat capacity will also rise by nearly 19%, from about 173,000 seats last year to more than 205,000 seats this year. In addition to the planned 60 A380 round trips for November on this corridor, other aircraft such as the Airbus A350-900 (16 round trips), Airbus A350-1000 (71), and Boeing 777-300ER (419) will be used.

On the Doha-Bangkok route, three out of six daily round trips each way will be operated by the A380 during November. The remaining flights are split between one operated by a Boeing 777-300ER and two by Boeing 787-8 Dreamliners.

Qatar Airways configures its Airbus A380s in three classes: eight first class seats at the front of the upper deck; business class with forty-eight seats behind first; economy at both rear upper deck and across all of lower deck; for a total capacity of five hundred seventeen passengers per aircraft. This layout is also deployed on routes such as Paris Charles de Gaulle and Sydney Kingsford Smith airports.

The airline currently owns ten Airbus A380s according to ch-aviation data; eight are active while two remain stored. These aircraft have an average age just over ten years.
