Federal Express Corporation has reported progress in its sustainability initiatives across the Asia Pacific region during Fiscal Year 2025, which spanned from June 2024 to May 2025. The company highlighted efforts to reduce carbon emissions through technology upgrades and increased employee involvement in community-based environmental programs.

Kawal Preet, president of Asia Pacific at FedEx, said, “At FedEx, we are committed to leading responsibly, driving change forward, and channeling innovation to deliver a brighter future for the people and communities we serve and the planet we share. In today’s climate-conscious business environment, our investments in expanding an electric vehicle fleet and integrating renewable energy across the Asia Pacific region reflect our long-term vision for sustainability. At the same time, through initiatives like FedEx Cares, we are empowering communities, creating opportunities, and championing a more sustainable and inclusive future for all.”

FedEx has set a goal of achieving carbon-neutral operations globally by 2040. As part of this plan, the company is using new technologies to cut emissions throughout its network. Vehicles owned or contracted by FedEx made up about a quarter of its total carbon footprint in Fiscal Year 2024. By early Fiscal Year 2025, FedEx had expanded its global electric vehicle (EV) fleet to over 8,000 vehicles. This included growth in key Asia Pacific markets such as Japan, New Zealand, Singapore, and Thailand. In Korea, six electric cargo vans were introduced in early 2025 to handle deliveries in Seoul and Busan.

The EV rollout is supported by advanced route optimization tools that use artificial intelligence to help drivers plan efficient delivery routes based on package volume and customer needs. These tools aim to lower unnecessary mileage and improve efficiency while reducing emissions.

FedEx is also increasing its use of renewable energy at facilities across Asia Pacific. In Fiscal Year 2024, it opened new energy-efficient buildings in Singapore, China, and Australia. Since January 2025, solar panels have supplied more than half of the electricity needs at the South Pacific Regional Hub in Singapore. This clean energy powers both facility operations and local EV charging.

Through its global community program FedEx Cares, the company works with local groups on projects like mangrove restoration in Indonesia and riverbank cleanups in Japan. Employee participation in volunteer projects grew by 20% compared with last year; sustainability-focused programs rose by 14%. Staff planted over 3,400 trees and native plants during these efforts.

The annual Purple Tote Campaign remains central to community engagement efforts: over 800 employees spent more than 1,000 hours collecting supplies for donation via partnerships with non-profits. More than 3,600 kilograms of goods reached over 1,600 people including children and seniors.

In education support initiatives aimed at rural areas of China this year—part of an expanded Library Program—resources reached around 9,000 students and teachers across 40 schools and communities.

FedEx continues to invest in youth entrepreneurship through its partnership with Junior Achievement Asia Pacific via the International Trade Challenge competition. Nearly 50,000 students have participated since inception; this year’s event drew over 4,700 students from nine markets who worked on circular economy solutions.

The company’s annual corporate responsibility report detailing these achievements is now available online.
